First Post from Eee PC

Our NetBook came yesterday from zipzoomfly.com and I fired it up last night after work. I am really impressed with its tiny size and my fingers are already getting used to the compressed keyboard. It’s fully functional and comes out-of-box with firefox, open office, skype client and media managers.

Job # 1 was to try to figure out how to rotate, rename and organize pictures from the camera. Then, I wanted to enable uploading an ‘album’ of images to my flickr account. It took one well placed forum article to get jUploadr running and the files moving, but much overdue pics from Summer-o-Seneca are online, now.

The next challenge will be nabbing pictures and video from our camera and moving them off to the external hard drive. Some of the pictures on our camera include opening the box and one of me writing this post.

On a recent trip, we were impressed with the ubiquitous WiFi access that seems to have spread through the mountains of Latin America (or Costa Rica and Panama, at least). Therefore, we’re planning to travel with an Asus Eee PC netbook for blogging, emailing and uploading photos.
